Macomb Frontline Heroes: Profiles of workers on the frontlines of COVID-19
For the past several months a great deal has been said about the work that’s being done by the men and women staffing Macomb County’s hospitals during these difficult times.
But who are these masked heroes working on the frontlines of COVID-19?
This is the second group of profiles, in a series highlighting some of these heroes and what they’re doing to help not only people in our community but the individuals that they work alongside in the hospitals.
• Erin Hahn of Sterling Heights

Emergency Room Registered Nurse at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital
The ER nurses treat more than 64,00 emergency patients that come through the doors of Henry Ford Macomb each year, suffering from injuries, traumas and severe medical conditions including heart attacks, strokes or car accidents.
In these crisis situations, RN’s such as Hahn must be able to quickly stabilize patients and minimize pain. They are trauma certified. During the pandemic, they are also screening patients for COVID-19 in an outdoor tented area behind the E.R.

Williams, who is the daughter of Sharon and Scott Cunningham, wife of Garrett Williams and a graduate of Anchor Bay High School is a behavioral health specialist assigned to the 44 Medical Brigade out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During the pandemic her skills have been utilized as a member of the Joint COVID Task Force serving in New York. Her role as Clinical Operations Sgt. Major with the task force has the 12-year-veteran, assisting with the planning and distribution of medical assets across the state of New York.
• Rachel Russo of Chesterfield Township
Food service assistant at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital
When hospital workers need to unwind, take a break or grab a bite to eat among the food and nutrition services’ workers who greet them is Russo. She has done many jobs in the department, working in the cafeteria, assembling patient trays and delivering food tray to the patients. Even though she’s wearing a mask, you can see the big smile and positive attitude she brings to her job. Russo is also a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, where she is studying elementary education.
We salute all of these individuals for their work during this unprecedented time in our lives.
